Iowa financial forms for family court

Iowa uses statewide financial affidavits by case type. People without a lawyer must use the form for their case type (124, 224, 324 or 424). Form 7 is the Supreme Court's financial affidavit for divorce.

Filed with the court, or given to the other side?

In a divorce, each party files a statement of net worth before the hearing, unless both ask to skip it and the court agrees. The self-help forms are e-filed and served automatically on registered parties.

What it uses
Iowa has statewide financial affidavits split by case type: self-represented litigants must use the Chapter 17 form for their case type (124 divorce without children, 224 divorce with children, 324 child support modification, 424 custody/visitation for unmarried parents), and Iowa R. Civ. P. 1.1901 Form 7 is the Supreme Court-prescribed dissolution affidavit of financial status under Iowa Code 598.13.
Which form, when
By case type, not income: Iowa Ct. R. 17.100 (Form 124, dissolution with no minor or dependent adult children), 17.200 (Form 224, dissolution with children), 17.300 (Form 324, modifying child support), 17.400 (Form 424, custody and visitation, parents never married); 'persons without attorney representation ... must use the forms listed in this rule'. R.C.P. 1.1901 Form 7 is the statement of net worth form for any dissolution (Iowa Code 598.13(1)(a)); in practice the attorney-represented form.
Filed or exchanged
Filed: Iowa Code 598.13(1)(a) requires each party to file a statement of net worth on the Supreme Court form before the dissolution hearing (waivable on joint application with court approval); the Chapter 17 forms are e-filed and automatically served on registered parties.

This is general information, not legal advice. Forms change, so check with the court before you file.
